Preliminary conceptual sketches for environmental project. The project was to have a case or exterior component. Played with box shapes and folders with a myriad of pockets.
Preliminary conceptual sketches began with a self-mailer folding poster. Trees were to be a major focus of the piece.
Maquette of tangible folder and enclosed materials using scape paper and cardboard. Creating several small mock ups often helps the creative process and visualize the intended outcomes.

Interior page page inspired by David Carson and emotive typography. Blackout was used for the headline, Courier for body copy which gives a typewritten feel, low tech. WC Mano Negra from Font Squirrel for the tag lines, a hand written typeface with a rustic personality.

Interior of packet with reminder cards and cord stitched booklet. The handmade paper has a sueded appearance which was please and study. The paper is stitched to the wood paper cover and makes for a sturdy one of a kind pocket folder.

This project was a fun diversion from my normal focus on social and environmental causes (and a good excuse to shop).

This page discusses the demonstrates the differences between Futura and Helvetica typefaces using a series of letter constructions and comparisons.
For this project we were to create a pictograph series which told a story using traditional and experimental methods. Ink and brush was used to create the final solution although sand, block cuts and clay were used in the process.
Small booklet to call attention to the plight of people living in tent cities in America. Illustrations were painted using Photoshop. Copy set on transparent paper to emphasize the message. Copy set in FFF Tusj Bold in a staggered pattern.
Digital painting of a typical family home to use in tent city booklet. To reduce the emphasis of the paintings a layer of velum covered the images.
e-Waste information graphic poster. The goal is to persuade people to properly recycle the growing amount of e-waste generated every year. Illustrations created in Illustrator, assembled in InDesign.

As part of a project to teach young children how to do laundry, this graphic was created to go on a laundry bag. The goal to raise self esteem of the children of low economic families. This would be done by providing self empowerment tools of learning and something personal just for them.
Conceptual work for laundry project. Many other concepts were visualized yet given the plight of children, many of whom do not live in a steady environment, a personal bag to transfer clothing from shelter to home, and the laundry facilities seemed the most usable.
Conceptual sketches for exercise app for iPhone.
Part of systems thinking behind the development of exercise app. A working prototype was created to 'test' users. Following user testing revisions made and made again until the final result shown in the next frame.
Final solution for exercise app project. Originally this project was to be for users who are not exercise buffs and needed a bit more motivation and a softer touch. The idea was to have inspirational comments as well as a goal list for keeping motivation alive.
